Here's a funny story. Don't read it if you are easily jealous. Or if you have horrific birth experiences. First of all, I was only in labor with Ryker for 5 hours from start to finish, so I knew this one was going to come quick. My biggest fear was giving birth at home in the bathtub. Or the bed. Or the car. So on Saturday morning, when I started feeling some regular contractions, I knew we should probably head out (no pun intended). But first I got dressed, folded some laundry, made the bed, etc. When we got to the hospital it was 10:30 a.m. and I was a 4. An hour later I was a 6. They moved me from triage to a real L&D room, and within 5 minutes I had an IV and an epidural. This was THE best epidural possibly ever given. It made me super sleepy and I felt absolutely nothing until about 4 hours later. My doctor was not on call, and I was upset about that, but then he showed up and said he had been at the temple. I felt this was an acceptable excuse. He broke my water at 2:00, I laid with my eyes closed for awhile, because I was so sleepy. I felt a tiny bit of pressure, told the nurse, who then fetched the doctor. I pushed twice. That's it. It's harder and takes longer to carry Ryker up the stairs than it was to get that baby out. It was great, because I had a great epidural, doctor, nurse, and husband. I enjoyed the whole thing, and wasn't in any pain at all. Praise to the epidural gods. The doctor said, "We should have videotaped that, put it on YouTube, and called it, "How to Have a Baby."
You may now feel envy, malice, ill-content, and disdain towards me. Sorry I'm so amazing.
Daddy and Hannah
We've been telling Ryker that our baby's name is Hannah. He calls her "Nana", which is also what he calls a banana. He probably thought we were having a banana, and when he showed up at the hospital to see her, he was probably thinking, "What the heck? They told me we were having a banana!" Talk about disappointment for a poor little two year old. Don't let the picture fool you, he was not amused.
What an awesome family picture. I think it clearly shows how interested Ryker was in this whole thing.
Here's some other pictures for your viewing pleasure.
