On my days off, I can either be dressed before noon or have a clean house. I cannot do both. Today I chose to have a clean house. That's why it's lunchtime and I'm still in my pajamas. Plus, Lover needed someone to play with. Here's some pictures I took of him today.
I do have a funny 2nd grade story to tell today. I've had some really funny kids in my classes in the past years, and there are some funny kids this year, but more of a funny in a very bewildering way. Anyway, one of my girls lost her Chapstick on the floor the other day. So I said, "Everyone look around on the floor for some BLUE Chapstick." So everyone's looking around for the elusive blue Chapstick. I see on of my boys with a triumphant look on his face walking over to the girl with something in his hand. Of course, I assumed it was the Chapstick. He opens his hand, and therein lies blue scissors. He tries to hand the scissors to her. I say, "Those are SCISSORS. We are looking for CHAPSTICK." And he gives me this look, like this confused, bewildered look, like I don't know what I'm talking about. And then he looks in his hand, and realizes, oh, this is INDEED not Chapstick. And with another completely confused look, he takes his seat. It was a weird thing to witness that leaves you scratching your head and laughing at the same time.
I had another kid this week raise his hand as he was looking at a book that I had marked with my name and ask me "Teacher, (I hate being called Teacher) what does E-D-D-Y spell?"
"It spells Eddy," I said.
Confused look.
"That's my last name," I said.
Confused stare continues for approximately 7 seconds, then he goes back to work. I guess he'll just continue to call me "teacher".
